At Skopes we are now producing new instances to represent the top 10 most popular system or technology types. But what are they?
This question is more tricky to empirically answer than you might think, because:
- What constitutes a distinct and individual system?
- Are we considering Number of Users or Number of Deployments?
- Where can we get data from and what sources are authoritative?
- So ERP tool sets and platforms like SalesForce count?
We were unable to visit each and every global business using a software application, but instead have used proxies (we will not be revealing our method in detail) for system popularity.
For our list we also placed criteria that ensure that they are systems which can be usefully housed within the Skopes application. They are also systems which we believe people would like to be able to explore and use to understand common ‘out of the box’ system capabilities and create their own functional requirements checklists.
We have also added a couple that we or our friends and colleagues have an interest in.
Here is our list – its order is indicative only:
- Project Management
- Church Management
- Help desk / support
- Event Management
- Customer Relationship Management
- Learning Management
- Business Intelligence
- Membership Management
- Content Management
- Document Management
- Applicant tracking
Yeah we know, a few more than 10 we got a little carried away.
If you or your collegues are considering implementing one (or more…!) of these systems watch out for updates on their release.
Good luck with your projects.
